EDOARDO MIROGLIO

The winery was created at the beginning of the years 2000 by Edoardo Miroglio, and Italian from Piedmont. He owns and manages another winery in Italy: Tenuta Carretta in Alba which produces first-class Barbaresco DOC and Barolo DOC. Edoardo Miroglio comes from a large textile family in Italy and is one of the biggest foreign investors in Bulgarian wine. He discovered the Elenovo region in the Thracian Valley and immediately understood the importance and potential of viticulture in Bulgaria. It was hardly effortlessly that he created “Edoardo Miroglio winery” by investing in one of the most impressive wineries in the world. With a surface area of over 200 hectares, the winery that vinifies by gravity is shaped like a spiral with 3 levels below ground. What is more, a luxury hotel located in the winery itself will welcome you and your stay will convince you that Edoardo Miroglio’s wines are exceptional.

The terroir of Elenovo enjoys a microclimate that is more temperate than in the south of the Thracian Valley which favours cultivation of Pinot Noir. Their wines made from this variety are currently the best in Bulgaria. The aromatic purity, the great freshness, the smoothness and the velvet tannins characterise their Pinot Noirs.

Their “Elenovo” wine, which is a pure Merlot that comes from the best plots of land, is one of the most elegant wines in Bulgaria.

And their biggest success, without a doubt, is the “Réserve en Pinot Noir”. It is the best selection in the vat and spends 24 months in the barrel. The 2006 was awarded the gold medal at the “Mondial du Pinot Noir 2009” in Switzerland. It is certainly one of the greatest Bulgarian wines.
The “EM” range offers red wines that come from the best vats, vinified in 3.5-tonne stainless steel tanks and aged in oak barrels from the Allier region in France for at least 12 months. The white wines from the “EM” range are generous with lots of exotic touches. In both the red and the white wines the character of the terroir combined with the savoir-faire of their consultant Monchierro and their cellar master Dessi will surprise you with their quality and freshness.

The intermediate range “Spiral” and “Saint’Ilia”, dedicated to assemblages with the Bulgarian varieties, have great finesse and are popular with gastronomic restaurants, even those with Michelin stars.

Their price/quality ratio is one of the best in Bulgaria.
